We've made it through the dark days of winter, and now begins the wild ride that is New England spring. Keep yourself well supplied with warming drinks, healthy snacks, stewing staples... and plenty of patience.

Ftw maple making

Maple

Hours of sunshine, a thick layer of insulating snow, cycles of freezing and thawing... conditions in Vermont are perfect for a great maple season. Celebrate Maple Month with something delicious; nut butter, bacon, ice cream, glazed nuts, cola, mustard, breakfast patties, coffee, sugarcheddar, pudding, granola, momo sauce, seltzer, or just lovingly adorn your morning stack. There is nothing that cannot be improved by a touch of maple magic!

Ftw coldbrew

Cold Brew

Need a portable caffeine boost? Snowcap makes cold brew right here in Vermont, and we have cans of locally roasted Honduras Marcala (802), lightly-sweetened Maple, and silky Nitro (nitrogen has been used by stout brewers for years to create a smooth mouthfeel; in coffee it also lends a subtle sweetness without sugar) to try this week. Pack a can or two in your bag as you set off on the weekend's adventures.

Ftw crackers 6x48

Cheese & Crackers

Slice up some fine cheeses from our favorite makers and find the perfect cracker pairing. Giguere & Valdes from Barn First, Echo & Solidago from Good Hands Creamery, Savage & Mt Alice from von Trapp Farmstead, Gouda from Brookford Farm, Fiddlehead Tomme & Smoked Baby Swiss from Boggy Meadow Farm, BrickHaus & Special Sip from Vermont Farmstead; add some Cauliflower Sunshine pickles or thin slices of Evercrisp apples and let the snacking commence!

JERICHO SETTLERS FARM

Jericho Settlers' Farm was founded in 2002 and gets its name from its location on two of the earliest settled farmsteads in Jericho, Vermont. Christa, Mark, and their two children continue the tradition of raising healthy food on a diversified family farm. They raise grass-fed meats, grow certified Organic vegetables, and let their laying hens forage on pasture and non-GMO grain.
They believe that a thriving local food system is essential to a sustainable community for humans and for the other animals, plants, and land that share this space with us. Christa and Mark thrive on real work in which there is joy, wonder and a feeling of accomplishment each day, as well as the continuous opportunity to learn and take on new challenges. Their overall aim is to provide real, trustworthy nourishment for you and your family.

Their winter hoophouse provides us with much-needed produce in the winter months when temperatures are not too low.

Our Farmers

Our partnering Farmers and Producers are some of the best in New England. Most are organically certified, and those who are not use sustainable practices. They are in this for the love of food, farming, and the art and craft of it all. Get them into a conversation about their crops or animals, their soil practices, or their land and be prepared for a lengthy and passionate discourse. They are masters of their craft and are all very excited about the nearly direct relationship they have with you. All of them feel it is essential that families know the people who produce their food. They are fully committed to the well being and health of your family.
