Maine Grains Organic Buckwheat Flour
Stone-ground, whole meal Japanese buckwheat flour has a distinctively nutty wholesome flavor.
Store in a cool, dark, dry place. While Maine Grains places a best by date on the packaging, the product will last for a lot longer if stored in a cool dark environment (freezer is best).
Buckwheat is naturally without gluten, but this flour is milled in the same facility as wheat so there may be slight contamination with wheat for those who are very sensitive. This variety is a Japanese, black hull, grown in Benedicta, ME.
This buckwheat flour is a beautiful grey with dark speckles throughout. The texture is not as refined as what you might find commercially which it adds a unique visual element, flavor and chew.
Maine Grains mission is to cultivate and deliver exceptional organic stone ground grains, which are locally grown and sourced. Through a unique stone-milling process, they are able to preserve nutritional content and improve the performance of their flour for natural fermentation baking.
Additionally, their principle foundation is that Maine Grains will provide a strong, positive community impact by creating jobs, improving land utilization, focusing on a holistic food chain, enabling farm-to-table benefits and serving as a successful model of local economic growth.

Best buckwheat flour ever. Almost purple in color, with amazingly fresh buckwheat flavor. Excellent mixed with other flours for baked goods, and outstanding alone in traditional chocolate chip cookies.
