All Souls Tortilleria Organic Corn Tortillas
Authentic nixtamalized local and organic corn tortillas.
Certified organic corn, lime, water
These tortillas are best enjoyed fresh, or eaten within 10 days. Keep refrigerated, resealed in their plastic bag. They can also be put in the freezer for later, in a sealed plastic bag. Store in the refrigerator.
These Corn Tortillas are made with nixtamalized corn - a traditional process in which the whole kernel corn is cooked in water with slaked limestone. The steeped corn kernels arestone ground into masa which is then shaped and cooked over fire to make a delicious and nutritious tortilla. These are traditionally made organic corn tortillas and are more hearty than a wheat tortilla or most corn tortillas you'll find in the grocery store. When heated, they soften into a delicious taco base, quesadilla or side for a meal. Made in Burlington, Vermont with an heirloom variety called Wapsie Valley (a yellow dent corn with a beautiful red flare at the base). Sourced from two family farms: Mary-Howell and Klass Martins at Lakeview Organic Grain in Pen Yann, NY and the Kenyons at Nitty Gritty Grain Co. in Charlotte, VT. Naturally gluten-free. Certified organic

I don't normally like corn tortillas. On recommendation we decided to give these a try. The reviews do not lie. They have fantastic texture and flavor, everything about them is great! My husband who usually only likes crunchy tacos asked me if I could please order these again this week. Just follow the directions on how to prepare them and you will not be disappointed.

Best corn tortillas and authentic taste!

These are the best corn tortillas I've had, and the best tortillas (flour or corn) that I've had *period* in Vermont. My mom lives in TX and she can get some fantastic flour tortillas down there, but for corn (gluten free with NO flour added), these are the first tortillas I've found that taste great and hold up to being loaded up with toppings.
I do not use the stove method for these, instead I heat these in a tortilla warmer (again, a method that my TX mom taught me). You take a stack (one package will fit) of tortillas and wrap them in one or two damp paper towels, then microwave for 1 minute on high. If you don't have a tortilla warmer, you can just cover the tortillas with a second plate.

I agree with other reviewers on the stand-out taste. These are not just a shovel to get the filling to your mouth! I put them individually in a hot skillet and topped with cheese -- as soon as the cheese melted I took them off, and they stayed soft and pliable. I stuffed with egg, Sobremesa spicy kimchee, and FTY sprouts/microgreens. Fabulous breakfast! Next I'll do black beans, roasted butternut squash, and a dollop of FTY cream cheese as a stand-in for sour cream, topped with fresh herbs. As another reviewer said, anything would be excellent with these.

I like how these really hold up and don't tear and fall apart even when stuffed with a lot of food but they are still soft and not tough. Excellent!

We tried these based on the rave reviews. Indeed, they are full of great corn flavor and the perfect size--not too big. When I put them in the skillet to heat and topped them with cheese, however, they became stiff as tortilla chips! Nice, if you like that, but I think these would taste best --and be easier to stuff and eat--if wrapped in a clean kitchen towel and placed in a steamer to heat and become soft, as they traditionally are served in Mexico.

Agree with the other review. These are nothing like any other corn tortilla you've ever bought. In fact, we never buy corn tortillas because they're universally so disappointing. We only tried these because we've come to trust whatever FTY offers, and sure enough, these are sooooo good that they're on our weekly order now. Even just a quick warming in the toaster over brings out the deep corn flavor. These tortillas are also nice and sturdy so they hold up well to being overstuffed like I tend to do. Taco heaven with FTY refried beans and summer salsa & loaded with veggies.

So this is the real deal. At first you will open the package and think, what and how will this be the most amazing thing ever! Let me tell you, get a pan (not non stick) and crank up the heat to really high. Leave the tortilla. Just walk away. Flip, add cheese if so desired. Once cheese melts remove the screaming hot tortilla. Add: all the things. I love cabbage in all forms, slaw, kimchi, kraut, and then whatever else, hot sauce, beans, meat, sour cream, eggs, green onion, tomato, potato..... seriously anything. And then eat, soft taco style. If it's really toasted you will get lovely crunchy bits .... seriously the flavor is slightly sweet, earthy, corny goodness. So worth buying.
