For those of you who want an alternative to pork sausage, here is sweet Italian turkey sausage from Misty Knoll Farms. Form into patties for your breakfast scramble or saute and add to a casserole - delicious!
Keep refrigerated for 5 days or freeze for later use.
Sausage isn't just a tasty breakfast option. Try it in a pasta bake for a warming weeknight dinner: saute onions, garlic, and sausage, toss together with cooked Valicenti pasta and one of their gravies, add some grated cheese (Champlain Valley's queso fresco melts beautifully), bake and enjoy!
This is a new product offered by FTY so I thought I'd write a review. When we got it in our order, it looked very much like the ground turkey, so for a moment I thought I had goofed and order two of those by accident. (Ground turkey is a staple in our house! Great for so many things.) The package was about 1.5lbs, which is a lot for 3 people, so I made it two different ways: one night, cooked with mushrooms and collard greens; another, browned and then threw tomato sauce over it and had pasta and broccoli for a super quick meal. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of flavor the sausage had. Family thought it was more evident with the tomato sauce because the tang of the greens overtook the sausage some. Not spicy, definitely sweet Italian. We're getting it again this week!
