This little apple is Vermont's favorite. Juicy, sweet-tart and crispier than its parent, Macintosh, the Empire makes the perfect lunchbox apple. Ideal for snacking and salads.
Store in the refrigerator wrapped in damp paper towel or in a perforated plastic or paper bag.
These blew my mind. How can they be so dense, juicy, crisp and sweet in April? A real treat when the grocery store apples are not worth buying.
Consistently good- just the right amount of sweetness and always crisp, even late into the spring. We enjoy all the apples from Farmers to You, but you just can't go wrong with an Empire!
We've been buying these apples all season, and they're just as good as last year! They're our favorites!
We get these every week. Very good apples.
I really can't get enough of these apples! So crispy and delicious without being too sweet. I am sure they would be lovely to cook with if my family ever had ant leftover from snacking! Yum!
We picked up our first order from Farmers To You yesterday, an evening when we had many other errands to run, and eventually found ourselves sitting in a parking lot waiting for our son to get our of class. We decided to pass the time by eating through our bag of goodies, starting with these apples. On the first bite we said, "Oh! Real apples!" So crisp, so sweet, so full of real apple flavor, and in April! Not at all like their poor washed out counterparts in the supermarkets now. Thank you!
Bill and Andrea at Champlain Orchards are committed to ecological practices and are Eco-Apple certified. Due to the challenges of our Northeast climate, organic certification of apples is incredibly difficult. Their apples are never sprayed; only in the flowering stage are the trees treated using Integrated Pest Management to cut down on the risk of scab. No chemical pesticides are used on the orchards.
