Hillside Botanicals is a diversified hemp and medicinal herb farm and wellness product manufacturer located in Central Vermont, the unceded ancestral territory of the Abenaki people. Co-owned by Sarah Shaw and Nathan Bacon, Hillside Botanicals was founded in 2018 as a hobby farm that quickly became a mission-driven agricultural venture that celebrates and amplifies the rich biodiversity that sustains us. They see our human health as dependent upon the vitality of our environment, which is why they strive to use only regenerative cultivation and wildcrafting methods that yield high-quality crops, healthy soils, and encourage a healthier future for all beings. In 2020 they made a deeper commitment to their values by becoming Real Organic and Bee Friendly Farming certified. In many ways, they are drawn to this work as activists for a regenerative future. They refuse to perpetuate extractive economies that are damaging to natural resources and our collective health. Sarah and Nathan recognize the obvious intersections of environmental degradation and human dis-ease, yet firmly believe that we can achieve collective well-being with an intentional relationship to the Earth. With natural systems as our teachers, they cultivate high-quality hemp and medicinal herbs in communion with robust soils, clean water, and healthy plant and animal communities. Their mission is simple: To cultivate medicine for people and planet.
