Y'know, it's interesting to hear different opinions regarding preferences to lettuce greens. When I was in Paris, FR, I would hear about iceberg lettuce, which is somewhat boring to me (aside from the crunchy texture), but they consider it "sweet".
In and event, THIS mesclun is comprised of strongly flavored and varyingly textured lettuces is really interesting. My wife and I were eating it undressed (the lettuce, not us). We were marveling at the flavors and textures of the different leaves. I'm guessing that one of them might be a variety of kale, but I'm not sure.
This is not a "sweet" or delicately flavored mix, but if you like a stronger and crunchier salad mix, this is outstanding. May be our new favorite.
That being said, seasons can change the mix of the greens. I've been using Pete's Greens, when it's available. He'll sometimes use pea and radish shoots in his mix, and it adds a nice, slight crunch and pepperiness to it, but I know his mix can vary greatly depending on the season.
