Easy Baked Apples

This simple dessert can be thrown together in minutes, while you get on with making dinner and enjoying the mouthwatering aroma of apples and cinnamon all through the house.

Ingredients:

2 large apples
2 T maple or brown sugar

1 t cinnamon
5 T butter
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped pecans
pinch salt

Preheat oven to 350.

Halve the 2 apples, and use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and center, and cut away the stems.

Arrange apples, cut side up, in a small roasting pan, then sprinkle them with the sugar and about half of the cinnamon.

Melt the butter in a saucepan, then add the syrup, the rest of the cinnamon and salt, and mix.

Add the oats and pecans, mix again, then spoon this filling into the cavities you've made in your apples.

Cover tightly with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

Remove the foil and return to the oven and bake until the apples have collapsed and the syrup thickened around them, about 10 - 15 more minutes.

Serve with plenty of ice cream, whipped cream, or just enjoy as they are.
