This is a bunch of purple kohlrabi, as lovely as it tasty. A little-known, but fantastic, vegetable, these kohlrabi are crisp, sweet and juicy with a mild spice similar to a broccoli stem or cabbage center.

Kohlrabi roughly translated from German is 'cabbage turnip,' aptly named for it's shape and flavor. These make an excellent addition to a summer meal. Expect to receive a bunch of 2 or 3 Kohlrabi per order.

The kohlrabi has been the best I've had--crunchy and sweet with nary any bitterness. I like how they are picked early enough that there are no rough sinews. My favorite way to eat kohlrabi is is to peel off a thick layer of the outside with a knife so that the green layer just below the surface is all gone, then cut on a bias, sprinkle with a little salt and let it sit for 10 minutes before eating as is. It's the easiest salad ever. Then if you have leftovers that are getting to be a de days old, just dump them into some kimchi juice and presto, more kimchi!
