From the folks at Walden: Do you love both sweet and tart apples? Are there different preferences in the family? We are offering a half and half mix of our brisk and tart Haralson along with the low acid, high sweetness of our Honeycrisp. We like to slice up both varieties and enjoy them together with breakfast or a fine plate of local bread and cheddar.
Both apples were born in the University of Minnesota program (Honeycrisp in 1960 and Haralson in 1913). This is the same group of folks that gave us keepsake, fireside, frostbite and many others. Our own native Vermont Malinda was used widely in this breeding program.
Store in the refrigerator.
Grown using organic methods; this is the first year Walden did not renew their certification with the USDA because they were unsure what was going on there.
