Ryan Demerest's introduction to farming was in 2010, in the Pacific Northwest, where he interned at Sunbow Farm in Corvallis, Oregon. He split his time between guiding at-risk youth in the wilderness and farm work, developing a love for the land and working within natural systems.
He soon enrolled in the University of Vermont’s Farmer Training Program, and it was there that he began to learn the skills necessary to start his own small-scale operation, initially on various pieces of leased land.
In 2016, Ryan and Genica met and almost immediately began to think about buying land to farm together.
They now own and farm 40 acres in Hyde Park, VT, selling to local restaurants and retailers, as well as maintaining a vibrant CSA.
