Mickey and Daniele have been commercially growing organic garlic since 1999. They started with only one type of garlic and over the years experimented with many different varieties to see what would grow well in their farm in Bakersfield, VT. They now grow over 30 varieties, all of which are certified organic. Between 12,000 - 15,000 pounds of garlic are harvested every year and then distributed throughout New England and New York.
Fields are on a three year rotation and each year are planted with bee-friendly cover crops such as buckwheat, field peas, or vetch. All of which is then mowed and tilled in to build the soil fertility. After 20+ years, Witchcat's soil is extraordinarily rich, and you can taste it in their amazing garlic.
