Peaceful Harvest Mushrooms is a certified organic family operated specialty mushroom farm located in the tiny village of Worcester, Vermont. Owned and operated by partners Karen and Brian Wiseman, Peaceful Harvest Mushrooms began as a hobby and a desire to invest in their family and community. The Wisemans broke ground on their Mushroom Barn in the summer of 2014 with the help of friends and family. By January of 2015, the first petri dishes were streaked with shiitake spores, and the rest was history! Peaceful Harvest Mushrooms specializes in various strains of edible and medicinal mushrooms year-round. Their medicinal tinctures and powders can be used to support a healthy immune system.
Karen Wiseman's fascination with chemistry and making things began to take direction with a chemical engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (when it was only 25% women!). Her dedication to serving others and medicine-making really began to surface during her years at Merck Research Labs as part of the core development team for the first protease inhibitor for HIV. Eventually she left behind a career in contract biopharmaceutical manufacturing to create a homestead and new life in Vermont with her family.
