A larger bag of oats for winter breakfasts, granola-making, baking projects or batches of muesli. Oats are so versatile and creamy, save money on bulk.

Storage Tips

Store in a cool, dry, dark place.

Maine Grains, Skowhegan, ME

Different from steam treated rolled oats where the enzymes have been denatured with steam heat for an extended shelf life, Maine Grain oats are dry rolled, preserving all of the nutrition inherent in the grain and intended to be eaten fresh.
Oats are a crop ideally suited to cool moist climates and Maine potato farmers have been growing oats for years. Oats are a beneficial addition to the farm ecosystem and a healthful addition to the human diet. Grown in Aroostook County, ME; these oats are a combination of the varieties "AC Aylmer" and "Goliath" hulled oats.
Maine Grains mission is to cultivate and deliver exceptional organic stone ground grains, which are locally grown and sourced. Through a unique stone-milling process, they are able to preserve nutritional content and improve the performance of their flour for natural fermentation baking.
Maine Grains Oats are processed in a facility that also processes wheat products and are not certified gluten-free.

I agree with the previous three reviewers: these are great-tasting oats--with too many husks! I'm continuing to order them and hoping to someday find fewer husks.

I agree with the previous comments. But they need to do a better job of filtering out the husk of the oats. I'd say that on average I have to spit out 2-3 pieces of husk in every bowl I eat. And that is after I've already removed some before cooking. It's just annoying.

We've been using Whole Foods bulk oats for years ... and JUST tried Maine Grains product this week. WOW! What a difference. This makes a creamier hot oatmeal and with full nutty flavor .. like REAL flavor that doesn't exist in the bulk steel cut version. Next, we'll try it with our granola recipe.

These have a beautiful, lightly toasted color rather than the pallid color of store-bought oats. The flavor is nutty or toasted - the best oatmeal we've eaten. EVER. Will be buying it as long as F2Y carries it.
