These cracked oats are sweet and hearty.
Similar to steel cut oats - these are not steamed or treated in any way, preserving all of the high-fiber nutrition inherent in the grain and intended to be eaten fresh. Cook as you would steel cut oats.
Oats are a crop ideally suited to cool moist climates and Maine potato farmers have been growing oats for years to help keep balance in the soil. Oats are a beneficial addition to the farm ecosystem and a healthful addition to the human diet.
Maine Grains Oats are processed in a facility that also processes wheat products and are not certified gluten-free.

Delicious!

These taste the way I always imagined oats to taste. Nutty, creamy ( or you can make them more chewy). So much better than store- bought; like night and day. You can make ahead and enjoy for a week. Yum!

I would never have tried these if it weren't for the good reviews, and I'm so glad I did. I, too, find them tastier than steel cut oats, and similar but slightly creamier in texture when fully cooked. I'm now addicted to them for breakfast and find I'm not hungry for lunch as early as I used to be. I cover them with water about an inch above the layer of oats and start them in the microwave for 3 minutes. I then go about my morning for 15 or 20 minutes, then zap them again for 2 minutes, add berries and maple syrup and...yum! (They can be started the night before as others have pointed out.)

These are better than the Irish steel cut oats I used to buy. They cook up into a creamier texture with a nice little bite remaining and in less time than the steel cut oats. The resulting porridge has a distinctly fresh wholesome aroma and taste. You can go traditionally sweet--or savory by topping with the following: https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/overnight-oats-with-cashews-seeds-and-turmeric Highly recommend!

Great texture. I usually cook them 4 parts water 1 part oats for 5-10 minutes on stove and then cover and leave overnight. In the morning-- perfect texture and moisture. In mw for 20-30 seconds then ready for whatever you like.

great oats, I cook like Steel-cut (3 parts water to 1 part oats). Ready in 10 minutes of simmering; a tasty long-burning fuel that lowers cholesterol!
