Blueberry Apple Crisp

The ideal summer dessert. Don't forget the ice cream!

Ingredients:

4 cups blueberries
4 apples, chopped to about the same sized pieces as the blueberries
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup flour
2 t cinnamon
4 oz of butter, softened
1/2 cup maple sugar
1 cup oats
1/2 cup roughly chopped walnuts, pecans or sliced almonds


Preheat oven to 375.

Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.

Place the chopped apples in a mixing bowl along with blueberries.

Add the sugar, a half cup of the flour, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and mix.

To make the topping, beat the butter until soft. Add maple sugar and the rest of the cinnamon and blend until smooth.

Add the remaining flour, oats and chopped nuts and mix until completely combined.

Spread fruit mixture in baking pan.

Sprinkle top with small chunks of crumbled topping.

Bake for approximately 25 minutes or until fruit is bubbling and topping is brown and crusty.

Serve warm, with plenty of cream or ice cream.
