These mushrooms are firm and dense in texture and have a rich, meaty flavor.
King Trumpet Mushrooms respond well to high temperature cooking- try them sauteed, roasted or grilled. Slice them the long way into 1/8- 1/4 inch pieces. Cook over high heat in butter until browned and they begin to soften. Season with salt and pepper and deglaze the pan with a splash of white wine.
Serve with pasta, in an omelette, soup, in risotto or on their own!
Store in plastic clamshell, or brown paper bag in the refrigerator. Best enjoyed within a few days.
