This extra virgin olive oil is made from Nabali olives, an indigenous Palestinian variety that produces one of highest quality olive oils in the world. It is cold pressed, full of antioxidents and can be used for cooking, baking, and dipping. Palestinian farm cooperatives in the West Bank grow and press the olives and every purchase of this olive oil helps small scale farmers who are faced with many economic challenges to survive and provide for their families. The organic certifiers were not able to visit the Equal Exchange farmer partners this year, so although it is the same great olive, produced with the same organic practices, it is not certified organic for now.
Store in a cool, dark place. Use within one year.
Olive farming is not just economically important in the West Bank — it is culturally important as well. Many of the olive trees on Equal Exchange's producer partners' farms hold an almost sacred significance for them. Some of the trees have been passed down from generation to generation and represent deep familial ties to the land. Equal Exchange is proud to support these farmers and their families as they rejuvenate their agricultural livelihoods.
