This cooked ham, also called Prosciutto Cotto, is smoky, succulent and seasoned with rosemary, sage and black pepper. Full of flavor, this makes an excellent option for sandwiches, omelettes or enjoy with some of your favorite cheeses on a charcuterie platter.
Fully cooked and ready to eat! Simply slice and serve.
Keep refrigerated or freeze for long term storage.
Vermont Salumi Cooked Ham is fully cooked and ready to enjoy upon receipt. Once the package is opened the ham is best enjoyed within 2 weeks.TIGHTLY wrap in plastic wrap and store in a sealed bag in the refrigerator between slicing. Exposure to the air can cause the surface of the ham to oxidize (changing from pink to brown). If your ham oxidizes, it is still edible! Simply slice away the discolored pieces and enjoy.
Vermont Salumi cooked ham can be frozen for long term storage if desired, though it will release some juices upon thawing. To thaw meat that has been frozen, place in a sealed bag in a bowl of cool water. Allow at least a day to thaw your pork prior to serving. Depending on the size and cut thawing times may vary.
Very tasty ham. I might prefer it to be less intense. I needed to cut the flavor by mixing it in with pasta (and for which I made a mustard cream sauce, and it was delicious with the ham).
It's a large piece (I got a 3 pound slab), but I cut it into thirds and froze the other two.
Ham and Eggs!
This ham is unusually delicate in both taste and texture. The rosemary flavor is delicious. The ham's excellent flavor transmits itself into pea soup, scrambled eggs, Mac and cheese; anything to which you add it.
I am not a ham person but purchased this at the recommendation of a friend who ordered last week. I think it is the best ham I ever tasted.
This ham is so delicious. It has a mild smoky flavor and we love the herbs on it. It is good by itself but very tasty when you quickly pan fried.
These are wonderful hams. They remind me of the way a porchetto would taste in Italy, although they are less salty, which is good in my opinion, and less fatty. Very good heated (do this carefully so as not to dry out) and with chutney. Also great in sandwiches.
Extremly delicious and very different from store bought ham.
However you have to like rosemary, the herbal taste is very strong.
The smoked slicing ham is delicious!
We made sandwiches, which were great, BUT it really sang sliced thin and fried as Canadian bacon and served eggs for breakfast, as well as sliced thick served with raisin sauce and beet greens gratin for dinner.
This size ham made a total of 4 sandwiches, breakfast for 3 people, and dinner for 3 people.....plus a little left for snacking!
Amazing quality ham. Excellent marbled meat.
Make sure you like the herbs, especially rosemary as it's very strong. The ham is good and will definitely work as a pasta or egg mix-in. I wasn't a fan of just slicing it as the herb flavor was overpowering.
We have grilled cheese sandwich Fridays at work where I rotate with coworkers who cooks lunch each week. It took me only 20-30 minutes to chop this up and serve 10. Everyone loved it!
Bought with the Cellars at Jasper Hill - Melting Cheese and Cyrus Pringle Bread from Red Hen Baking Co.
Vermont Salumi makes these hams from pork sourced from Vermont farms that raise their pigs on a vegetarian diet, without any antibiotics.
Each ham is brined, seasoned, then smoked and quartered, leaving two flat faces for ease of slicing.
This quartered ham makes approximately: 4 sandwiches, breakfast for 3 people and dinner for 3 people.
