These Nut Butters from Tierra Farms are a wonderful example. Tierra Farms started out as an Organic vegetable farm near the Finger Lakes Region of New York, and when their customers started asking for nuts and dried fruit - it lead them down a path were they quickly realized, as we did, that it was difficult to source organic, consciously grown and processed nuts and dried fruit, and that much of what is available at supermarkets are just poor quality, old or sourced unethically.
These nuts and dried fruits are sourced from farms they have had longstanding relationships with, and then Tierra Farms does all the processing at their farm in an environmentally sensitive way. Over 70% of their electricity is generated from solar power on the farm, they only use sea salt and their packaging is at least 50% recycled. Both through their communications and relationships with growers they are able to maintain very high levels of organic integrity as well as ensure fair business practices.
