This is a colorful mix of the seven different varieties of dry beans Morningstar Farm grew this year, perfect for a warming winter soup! It consists of the following varieties:
Red Cayenne, Kidney, Jacob’s cattle, Marfax, Yellow eye, Black, Cranberry, Pinto
Store in dry storage, in a plastic bag or a glass jar.
**Please pick over these beans before cooking as they have been mechanically harvested and the occasional pebble may have jumped in the mix.**
These beans are grown by Morningstar Meadow farms in Glover, Vermont. Seth specializes in growing dry beans for us and does an excellent job on his hill farm. He learned much of what he knows from Jack Lazor at Butterworks Farm. Mentoring is a rich tradition up here in Vermont.

I used this medley to make chili and it was absolutely perfect! I soaked them overnight and then cooked my chili in a slow cooker and the beans tasted delicious.
Beans were excellent. For those making soup, I would recommend picking out the black beans as it turns the soup a black/brown color.
