Vermont Quince Company Quince Paste
Quince Paste, also known as Dulce de Membrillo, is excellent sliced and served with hard cheese or mixed with chevre for a wonderful spread. It's also delectable rolled in sugar for a sweet treat!
quince, sugar, maple syrup, lemon juice
Sizeappx. 7 - 8 oz
Owned by Nan Stefanik, Vermont Quince Company specializes in unique, tasty condiments using quince as her primary ingredient! Although quince appears to be an exotic fruit, it is actually an ancient cousin of the apple and pear. Grown in Colonial America for it's high pectin content, quince is an ideal fruit for use in preserves and though it grows well in this region, it remains a relatively obscure fruit among local orchards. Nevertheless, Nan is able to source her fruit from Vermont and New Hampshire, encouraging commercial growers to join the "quince revival!"

My husband is a picky eater who can be reluctant to try new things, but he does really love fruit. I coaxed him into trying this because he's really keen to plant fruit trees in our yard that will grow happily in New England. He liked it! I only got one serving that first night (enjoying it with one of the FTY cheddars) before it was gone, so consider that a big thumbs up from a very picky man.

This is delicious quince paste. It reminds me a lot of latin american guava paste, but it's grown with a northern fruit that we don't eat much of. This is delicious paired with cheese or with crackers or both.
