Free Verse is a small farm & apothecary in Chelsea, Vermont offering naturally-grown teas, culinary herbs, herbal remedies, body care products, bulk herbs and Community Supported Apothecary (CSA) subscriptions. Their products are handcrafted in small batches in their apothecary, and they take the utmost care to preserve the essential constituents that give each herb its flavor, potency and magic. In what ways has the FTY partnership supported your farm/business' growth?
Our partnership with Farmers to You has helped us hugely! Due to our partnership, we have been able to reach a whole new market of food lovers and herb enthusiasts in larger metropolitan areas, which has bolstered our business and allowed us to grow in a sustainable way. We also love working with FTY to offer a rotating selection of herbal goods throughout the year by curating seasonal selections of our teas, culinary herbs and body care products.
What is your favorite product?
Such a hard question! Favorite tea: Take It Easy; Favorite Culinary: Dress It Up; Favorite Body Care: Comfort Cream.
What brings you the most joy in your work?
We love the opportunity to witness each herb, from its earliest days as a sprout to its moment of full fruition, and then to harvest it at its peak point of flavor, beauty, nutrition and medicine. Both our cultivated and wildcrafted herbs each have their own unique character and we relish the opportunity to learn from each plant throughout the growing season, for every herb has a lesson to teach us.
Anything else you would like to share with our community?
This fall we are celebrating ten years of our farm, as well as the near-completion of our new, solar-powered herb drying barn (for information about our barn fundraiser, click here). We want to express our immense gratitude to the community at Farmers to You for helping us reach this point. The growing demand for our products has been one of the main motivators for building our new drying system, and we look forward to producing more high-quality herbal ingredients for our ever-growing line of teas, remedies, culinary offerings and body care products. Bringing herbs into people's lives is a great passion of ours and we continue to be overjoyed by the way our community of herb-lovers has grown–thanks largely in part to Farmers to You.
We invite you to join us for our 10-Year Celebration: On October 1st, 2022, from 10am to 1pm at Free Verse Farm in Chelsea, VT. Come enjoy an epic foliage view, autumnal snacks and beverages. We will be offering a tour of our new herb drying barn at 11am and a Farm Tour at noon. Open to all ages. No dogs, please. We hope to see you there!
