We're not sure what else to add to this description other than put the pot on the stove! Both David from River Berry Farm and George from Dog River Farm grow amazing sweet corn.
These farms do not grow the new super sweet varieties popular at supermarkets but much prefer (as we do ) the old fashion sweet varieties such as Silver Queen, Sweet Rhythm, Butter and Sugar. These varieties are sweet, creamy and juicy and harvested before their sugars start to turn to starch. Sweet corn is best fresh, so enjoy within a couple of days of harvest for the sweetest flavor.
Great to steam these in a big pot until the kernels are just barely translucent. A few minutes once the water begins to boil. The best, however is to roast them on the BBQ. Leave the ears in the husk and soak in cold water then put on the grill. When they are hot and steamy husk them and enjoy!
Store in the refrigerator in a plastic bag until ready to eat.
