This Week’s Bounty: Smoked Cooked Hams, Little Hosmer Cheese, Lamb and Soups

Eggs for a Cause: a fundraiser for AWARE

We are participating in a fundraiser by Black Dirt Farm to raise awareness around domestic and sexual violence. A dollar for every dozen sold will be donated to AWARE, a domestic and sexual violence prevention and advocacy organization that serves northern Vermont. Community intervention can decrease sexual violence by 40%. By purchasing these eggs your dollar will help inform and train people on how they can help to decrease this violence in our communities. Thanks for your support!

Another note on Eggs: The hens are laying again! Thanks to the lengthening of days, our egg supply is on the rise. Thank you for your patience during the recent slow season, and we hope to have plenty to feed you all as spring continues to arrive.

We’re adding Vermont Salumi’s Smoked Cooked Hams to our Monthly Stock Up, as they are a perfect flavorful addition to a meal. Seasoned with rosemary, sage and black pepper, this ham is fully cooked and is excellent in a homemade Mac and Cheese, in Quiche, pan fried as you would Canadian bacon or with eggs, any style! Enjoy for just $9.35 per pound.

Our February Monthly Stock Up features the following at 10% off:

Fresh from our Farmers and Producers

We received another delivery of dry beans from Morningstar Meadows. In addition to their Kidney, Pinto and Black Beans, we’ve added Jacob Cattle Beans plump, white and red speckled, kidney-shaped bean with vivid maroon splashes. These are full-flavored and hold their shape under long cooking times.

Tamarack Vermont Sheep Farm brings a fresh delivery of Lamb chops, shanks, ground lamb and stew meat.

Woodbelly’s Soups and Broth use local produce whenever possible. This week their Carrot Turnip Soup is made with 100% local ingredients! Featuring veggies from Full Moon Farm, Laughing Child Farm, LePage Farm and Harlow Farm. Enjoy for a quick and nourishing winter meal:

  • Carrot Turnip Soup
  • Chicken Soup
  • Coconut Curried Squash Soup
  • Portuguese Kale Soup

Or their Roasted Chicken Bone Broth for a homemade soup of your choice.

We’re excited to introduce a new cheese from the Cellars at Jasper Hill! Their Little Hosmer is a mild soft ripened cheese that was recently named “Best New Cheese” and a Super Gold Trophy winner at the 2017 World Cheese Awards. This cheese has a very delicate flavor that will appeal to those who favor a less pungent style brie. Enjoy at room temperature with bread or crackers, or as a Baked Brie or baked and drizzled with Honey and served with Apple slices.

Don’t forget to check out our Weekly Menus.  These are pre-picked orders suited to different dietary preferences: Omnivore, Paleo, Vegetarian and Dairy Free, each accompanied with meal ideas.
