This Week’s Bounty: Asian Pears, Salad Turnips, Potatoes, Ground Turkey and Sheep Cheese

It’s Pepper Season! Enjoy these late summer fruits fresh, roasted or sauteed:

Ground Turkey is back this week from Misty Knoll, in addition to their Boneless Turkey Breast.

Bonnie View Farm has a couple of different cheeses for us. Two sheep cheeses made with unpasteurized milk:

  • Coomersdale is a hard mountain style of sheep cheese.  It’s flavor is buttery, mild and slightly nutty. This cheese is a young Pecorino type cheese made from a recipe from the Pyrenees.
  • Mossend Blue is a tangy Blue Cheese, it’s flavor wonderfully sharp and dry and crumbly in texture.

Asian Pears are in from Champlain Orchards! These are sweet, juicy and almost taste tropical.
