This Week’s Harvest: Golden Tilefish, Black Pu-Erh Tea, Spartan Apples, Heirloom Corn Meal

kale.bagged.unity.farmsVegetables:
The taste of spring is here! Julie at Red Wagon Plants has a beautiful selection of Herbs this week. Cathy from Unity Farms (the one with the lucky horseshoe logo) is giving us the last of her Kale and Mesclun.

The storage crops from the fall harvest are holding well. Lee from Blackwell Roots Farm brings Yellow Onions back again and Red Beets are now coming from Pete’s Greens in Craftsbury.

Tea:
We have one of my favorites this week – Black Pu-Erh Tea has a rich and complex flavor that comes from the aging process. It is the fine wine of teas! We also have Morrocan Mint and Red Rooibos.

Fish:
The selection from Red’s Best continues to be a revelation. Hake is our Traditional Share, a very good value, and the Adventuresome Share is a new variety for us – Golden Tilefish. This fish is similar to Sea Bass in its flavor and texture. You’ll taste hints of crab and lobster since it eats plenty of crustaceans.

We’ve had such a positive response on the Scallops, that we’ve decided to make them available as a separate item when they are available. They’re on this week!

Fruit:
Try the Macintosh, Northern Spy, Crispin, or crispy Spartan. Macouns and Cortlands will be back next week.

Grains:
Nitty Gritty Grains Wapsie Corn Meal is back and we now are carrying their Whole Wheat Flour. Local and Delicious!
