Sampling Preview – Aqua Vitea Kombucha

With heat indexes topping 100 degrees, we thought we’d bring a bit of refreshment to everyone at our pickup sites next week. The good people at Aqua Vitea are sending us growlers of their energizing fermented elixir to perk up your day and bring you good digestive health. We’ll be pouring their Ginger and Cranberry Kombucha.

Kombucha is a fermented tea that has been used for over 2000 years as a refreshing digestive and detoxifying drink. Bubbly, acidic and slightly sweet, it’s a great alternative to sodas of any kind.

We’ve mixed it with a bit of juice, some iced tea from Love & Tea Co., and (of course) drink it straight.

Owner/Operator Jeff Weaber started Aqua Vitea after learning about the drink from the book Nourishing Traditions (an FTY favorite) and the Weston A. Price Foundation. His experience as a professional brewer of craft beer and the influences his wife Katrina was bringing to their family as she pursued a degree in Natropathy, midwifery and acupuncture added up to a new passion for sharing the benefits drinking Kombucha.

Aqua Vitea Kombucha is brewed in small batches using spring water from the Green Mountains of Vermont, organic and fair-trade green and black tea, organic cane juice and superior leach-free fermenting vessels.

As a business, Jeff and the staff are dedicated to the green living principles of using organic ingredients, buying fair-trade teas, and supporting local farmers.

Come out to the pickup sites and give it a try!
