Weekly Update – July 13

We have had so many new partners join since we last gave some recognition to our site hosts that we figured it was about time to give them some love.

Every Farmers To You pick-up site has a site host who is a neighbor in your community. Not only do they come every week to help make the distribution of food easier, they are also the reason that we are there in the first place. It is the site host who is the community champion, who sent out emails, distributed fliers, talked up Farmers To You, and got enough families to commit where we could open up the site. The site host also helps coordinate anomalies in pick-ups, bringing orders home if people are late, dropping off at someone’s house.

Our site host in Beverly Harborlight, Jenise Aminoff, just wrote a very eloquent piece on her blog Know Your Food, Boston about her experience as a partner and site host.

They do all this work not for financial compensation, but for food credits and the satisfaction of being part of something they believe in.

Your Mobile Farmer’s Market

As the summer offerings increase, this is a good time to remind everyone that we bring a lot of items to sell off the truck. Farmers To You is also a mobile farmers market. So if you or your friends are unsure about committing to the service, come by and buy what you want right off the truck. You can buy off the truck at the following locations:

  • Beverly (Cape Ann Waldorf School and Harborllght)
  • Newburyport
  • Jamaica Plain
  • Newton
  • Arlington
  • Lexington
  • Bedford
  • Cambridge
